Serviceberry (Amelanchier alnifolia)

Also known as Juneberry, this moderate-growing large shrub is used for windbreaks; it is a great choice for naturalizing your yard, for screen plantings and for landscape borders. It fall foliage is an attractive yellow. And it bears a leathery purple to black fruit for birds and other wildlife.

 

It may suffer minor damage from insects and late frost.
