Redbud, Eastern (Cercis canadensis)
Best known for its showy spring flowres, the Eastern Redbud is a decidous, often multi-trunked small tree with a graceful, rounded crown. Masses of pea-like pink flowers bare the branches in the spring before foliage emerges. An excellent tree for pollinators, often visited by honeybees, butterflies and hummingbirds. Summer foliage is bright green, heart-shaped leaves that change to pale yellow in the fall.
