Oak, Red (Quercus rubra)

A good street tree, the red oak is the fastest growing of all oaks. With its bristle-tipped leaves with waxy lobes, it tolerates pollution and ice/wind. Its fall foliage is a magnificent red. Most recognizable is the acorn cap that resembles a beret. It's a great food and cover choice for birds and mammals. One thing to note is that this tree is more susceptible to oak wilt than Bur or White Oak.
