Elderberry, American Black (Sambucus canadensis)

Great for jellies, jams and wine, the red, bluish or black fruit is edible. Fast-growing, this shrub buds out with white flowers in late spring. This species is excellent for pollinators as bees, butterflies and birds love it! It is a popular choice for windbreaks too.
